Now for something I’m a little more familiar with! My dad got me started with comics as a kid, so I always love doing these photoshoots. Not to mention it was a shoot with Jenni.

Long story short, I’ve been a fan of Jenni’s for a few years now (in retrospect, that sounds kind of creepy). I would always see her walking around cons (Otakon, Katsucon, etc) and could never get the courage to ask for a few photos. Last Katsucon, she did the Fruit Sailors group with my friends Dee and Mariel…and I about kicked myself for not being able to stay at the con long enough to get some photos of the group. So, when she messaged me on dA saying she’d be interested in a shoot, I about flipped tables. 

Okay, so I kind of did flip tables. You can ask my roomies. And Mariel. (In retrospect, it was kind of embarrassing…but I fangirl sometimes. It’s usually internal fangirling, though.) 

The night before the shoot I was ridiculously nervous. My roomies got me a gin and tonic or two to help me calm down, and Sharbuncle got me a large coffee the next morning when I woke up so I wouldn’t have a minor heart attack. I always worry that the shoot will go horribly, some unknown thing will go wrong, the person will end up hating the way I work and my photos… It’s silly, but it’s valid.

Turns out, I didn’t have anything to worry about.  Despite me being completely unaware of where anything was located at the con, Jenni was so ridiculously patient with me and easy to work with it was insane. I couldn’t have asked for a better first day shoot at NYCC! I really hope I get to work with her again in the future!
